Ali Reynolds #18, OverKill, Gallery Books, April 1, 2025
Ali is swiftly running out of time to find the real killer and keep her employee safe in this high-octane thrill ride.
Chuck Brewster, the former business partner of Ali Reynolds’s husband B. Simpson, once carried on an affair with Clarice, B.’s first wife. So when he’s found murdered with Clarice standing nearby covered in blood, it seems an open and shut case.
But Clarice swears she’s innocent and begs for Ali’s help. At the same time, someone is targeting Camille Lee while she’s on the road for High Noon.
Whenever Ali Reynolds’s mother, Edie Larson, refused to mind her own business, Ali’s dad, Bob Larson, claimed she was "Edie-ing it.” In OverKill, Ali, a chip off her mother’s old block, takes Edie-ing to a whole new level.
In accepting the charges on a collect call from an inmate in the King County Jail in Seattle, Washington, Ali learns that the caller is none other than her husband’s ex-wife, Clarice Brewster. She’s in jail on suspicion of murdering her current husband who was stabbed to death in their shared bed. B. Simpson isn’t exactly thrilled to hear this news. After all, the dead husband, Chuck Brewster, was once not only B.’s best friend but also his business partner. The affair between Chuck and Clarice had marked the end of B.’s first marriage and as well as the dissolution of a profitable business partnership.
B. wants to have nothing to do with Clarice's current difficulties and is determined to stay out of it, but can Ali resist becoming involved? Nope, and thereby hangs the tale.
