SHERIFF BRADY IS ON MATERNITY LEAVE BUT WILL SHE STAY PUT? NOT WHEN THERE'S A SERIAL KILLER AROUND...

Sheriff Joanna Brady’s best intentions to stay on maternity leave take a hit when a serial homicide case rocks Cochise County, dragging her into a far-reaching investigation to bring down a relentless killer in this chilling tale of suspense.

This time Sheriff Joanna Brady may expect to see her maternity leave through to completion, but the world has other plans when a serial homicide case surfaces in her beloved Cochise County. 1` than staying home with her newborn and losing herself in the cold cases to be found in her father’s long unread diaries, Joanna instead finds herself overseeing a complex investigation involving multiple jurisdictions.

For years a long-haul truck driver has been kidnapping vulnerable prostitutes and taking them home to an isolated compound in Cochise County where he holds them prisoner, starving them an violating them until he looses interest in one, disposes of her, and then moves on to another. After being re-elected to the office of sheriff for the third time, Joanna Brady, goes on maternity leave. Wile she’s out of the office, a kid playing hooky from school drags home a human skull. When the boy’s mother brings his “trophy” to the sheriff’s office, the ensuing investigation leads officers to an entire field full of skeletonized human remains. Meantime, as the killer’s most recent captive, Latisha Marcum struggles to survive, Joanna’s newest officer, Deputy Dan Sloan sets off on a dangerous mission to save Latisha’s life while putting his own in jeopardy. As far as characters go, Latisha walked away with my heart in this one.
